About This Racket
Wright & Ditson was founded in 1871 by George Wright and Henry Ditson, becoming a key supplier of baseball, tennis, and golf equipment in the U.S. The company made equipment for Boston sports teams until 1907 and was noted for its acclaimed tennis gear, including rackets and balls used in national tournaments. Later acquired by Spalding, W and D made excellent hickory clubs from the 1880s to, I assumed the mid 30’s. By the 2000s it had switched mostly to golf.
However it has a rich history in tennis and was one of the first to make a true open throat designed, the fore-runner of many big innovations. This All American is a fantastic racket for its time
