Rawlings Sporting Goods is an American sports equipment manufacturing company based in Maryland Heights St Louis, Missouri. Founded in 1887, Rawlings currently specializes in baseball and softball clothing and equipment. The Rawlings company was acquired in 2018 for $395 million. created the 1970 Rawlings Tennis Classic. They made only a small foothold into tennis through sponsorship of John Newcombe and Billy Martin. The brand was moderately popular in the US with about 10 models but hardly seen in the UK and Europe.Their main success might have been when in 1973 they made a steel racket, the Rawlings Tiebreaker used in the Australian Open. Rawlings Court King is one of their most beautiful models, top quality construction and finish.

Billy Martin (b 1956) was a former professional tennis player from the United States. During his career, he won the NCAA Singles Title in 1975, defeating George Hardie, and one singles title and three doubles titles on the Pro Tour. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 32 in 1975. Martin currently serves as the head coach for the UCLA Bruins men’s tennis team. He was named ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association) division 1 National Coach of the Year and is a member of ITA Hall of Fame.[2] He beat Raul Ramirez and Stan Smith at the Washington D.C. tournament.
